How to do a board finish concrete wall.
You want to be able to reach all the way to the bottom of the form and place the concrete in lifts before pulling the pipe up and pouring another lift.
Then take a straight board a 2x4 piece of lumber works great as long as it isn t bowed and simply level off the concrete.
Start at the bottom corner of one wall and in a single.
After thoroughly mixing the concrete pour it into the forms slightly overfilling them.
Drag the flat of the trowel straight across the surface of the concrete to smooth it.

When you want board formed concrete you take that same plywood formwork and you add an additional layer of wood to the inside faces so that the wet concrete takes on this new pattern.

Using a board that is longer than your pour is wide and using a sawing motion work back and forth until the concrete is level.
Our crew places the concrete in 2 foot lifts working all the way across the wall before moving on to the next lift.
Step 2 prepare the board.
Trowel a 3 8 inch layer of concrete over the wall with a straight trowel.
Apart so they work as drywall backers too.
Allow the concrete to dry for approximately 30 minutes until most of the moisture is gone from the top.
Wet the pointing trowel and hold it upside down as you scoop the mortar loading up its lower side.
This will allow you easier access to the wall as well as help prevent the risk of contamination of the finished product.
