How to install transom window over door.
A transom window is a traditionally fixed window over a door or an operating sash window.
Jamb faces should be flush on both sides.
Temporarily secure the unit in place by installing screws in the center predrilled hole locations on both jambs.
Screws but don t tighten them all the way at this time.
At the interior of the transom s jamb face nail the transom unit to the door unit using 1 1 4 trim nails along each side of the sash.
The final step is the installation of window trim.
The transform comes separately and must be attached to the door jamb.
Assemble the door and transom on a very flat surface.
Align the sides so that the jambs of the transom unit and door unit are perfectly aligned.
Cut the casing the two legs and the one header and install on one complete side of the transom.
